Evershot is hosting its very first Battle of the Bands. It will see nine acts from around the region competing for a trophy and a slot at the village’s street fair in May.
Vintage ska act Boy Le Monti are headlining the event and MC for the evening is Willy Borrell, from MTV’s Willy Borrell and the Commodore of Nice.
Band On, a group of promoters committed to bringing live music to the village, are organizing the contest.
All proceeds from the contest will go towards the upkeep of the village hall.
Battle of the Bands is open to any non-professional band with original material and whose members are all under 30 years old.
Competing bands include Poison Tree, Mantra, the Adam Tubb Band, the Daze, Thrush, Palingenesis, Pariah, Three Minute Heroes and Take it as Red.

Evershot based BAND-ON.co.uk On have been promoting live music in the village for the past two and a half years.
Over the last 25 years Evershot village hall has played host to PJ Harvey and Billy Bragg.

POISON TREE
Poison Tree from Dorchester and Weymouth , influences include Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Bush and JJ72.
They will be covering Teenage Angst by Placebo and playing their own tracks Sad Eyes Vacant Smile and Hey Peachy!
Band members are Ned Miles, 16, guitar and vocals, Ed Edge, 16, guitar, Rob Edge, bass, Mike Shaffeie, 16, drums
MANTRA
Mantra from Bridport, influences include Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, the Eagles and Radiohead.
They will be covering Street Spirit by Radiohead and playing their own tracks The Man who Can’t be Named and Soul Searcher
Band members are Jamie, 12, drums, Finn, 12, guitar, Lewis, 12, guitar, Corbin, 12, bass
THE ADAM TUBB BAND
The Adam Tubb Band from Bridport, influences include Explosions in the Sky and Radiohead.
They will be covering Go To Sleep by Radiohead and playing their own tracks La Riviere and Little Lune.
Band members are Adam Tubb, 17, Aaron Hull Smith, 16, Calum Croft, 17 and Joe Poole 17
THE DAZE
The Daze from Charminster, influences include mod and rock.
They will be covering I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor by Arctic Monkeys and playing their own tracks Skin And Bone and Lies in Hand.
Band members are Lee Watts, 19, guitar, Thom Burdett, 19, bass, Alex Burt, 19, drums and Kerrin Hutchins, 19, lead guitar.
THRUSH
Thrush from Dorchester , influences include The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Dead Kennedys, The Ramones, Rage Against The Machine and The Doors.
They will be covering House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals (TBC) and playing their own tracks The Flying Nest and Her Velvet Wiget.
Band members are Edward, 19, guitar and vocals, Liam, 18, base and Paul, 20, drums and vocals.
PALINGENESIS
Palingenesis from Broadmead, influences include Marilyn Manson, Cradle of Filth, Otep, Slipknot and Rob Zombie.
They will be covering You Spin Me Right Round by Dead or Alive and playing their own tracks Lucification and Darkness.
Band members are Zacharly, bass and vocals, James, drums and Bazil, guitar.
PARIAH
Pariah from Evershot and Bridport, influences include System of the Down, QOTSA, Nirvana and Muse.
They will be covering No one Knows by QOTSA and playing their own tracks TBC
Band members are Joseph Trudgeon, 15, drums, Will Pownall, 15, bass and vocals and Jake Sparks, 14, guitar and backing vocals.
THREE MINUTE HEROES
Three Minute Heroes from Dorchester , influences include The Jam, Paul Weller, The Selector, The Ordinary Boys, The Kinks and Razorlight.
They will be covering Stumble and Fall by Razorlight and playing their own tracks Live Without It and Fifteen Minutes.
Band members are Sam Travis, 16, vocals, Adam Hutchings, 16, vocals and bass, Kyle Mollisan, 16, guitar, Tom Howe, 16, guitar and Charli Meland, 16, drums.
TAKE IT AS RED (First reserve band)
Take it as Red from Bridport and Beaminster, influences include classical, electropop and Norwegian death metal.
They will be playing their own tracks Fall of Communism and Dance Girl Dance.
Band members are Ed Eckersall, 18, bass and Jason Beavis, 18, guitar and synth.
